Even if you have never in a life been to Los Angeles, you’ve probably seen these places in movies, television series, cartoons or video games. These places have become legendary in our subconsciousness and strongly attached to the City of Angels. We know what to see in Los Angeles iconic locations are at your service!
The Griffith Observatory is something that is worth seeing in L. A., be sure! It offers a truly spectacular view of the mountains and the Hollywood sign. At the entrance on the sidewalk, you can see the engraving of the solar system, there is also a monument to famous astronomers and a sundial. Union Station
The train station Union Station was built in 1939. The authors of the project have become a father and a son. The Parkinsons are known thanks to the construction of the building of Los Angeles City Hall. Its architecture combines elements of Art Deco, Spanish colonial, Art Nouveau, and even motives of the Dutch Colonial Revival. Today Union Station is a major transport hub of Southern California, it serves about 60 000 passengers per day.
TCL Chinese Theatre
The cinema was built in 1927 by impresario Sid Graumann, from the outside it resembles a Chinese pagoda. In front of it there is a famous Hollywood “Walk of Stars”, where the prints of the hands or feet of many artists are stored in cement.
Hollywood Bowl
The large-scale open-air concert hall was designed in the form of an amphitheater. Thanks to the stunning acoustics world stars from The Beatles to Depeche Mode and Linkin Park permanently perform here. Hundreds of performances a year in the concert hall are given by the Symphony Orchestra Hollywood Bowl and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Los Angeles.
Dodger Stadium
What is worth seeing in Los Angeles, it’s a baseball stadium “Dodger”. Celebrities and locals love to be there at the games. The stadium was built in 1962. The cost of its construction is amounted to 23 million. Since its opening, it is the home arena of the club’s Major League Baseball, “the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
Capitol Records Building
Capitol Records Building is the 13-storey circular building, located on the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Since 1954, it is one of the largest in the United States record companies Capitol Records. Such stars as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, Tina Turner cooperated with it. On the roof there is a beacon that transmits a signal “Hollywood” on Morse code.
Randy’s Donuts
The famous bakery is located in Inglewood, close to Los Angeles International Airport. The building in the style of Constructivism 20-ies of the last century was built in 1953 by architect Henry Goodwin. It catches the eye thanks to a giant donut on the roof. Its height is about 10 meters. The donuts are sold 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is something worth seeing in Los Angeles, and also be sure to try it!
Watts Towers
And last, but certainly not the least thing that can be seen in Los Angeles is a tower Watts. 17 towers up to 30 meters high are made from different materials from glass to the tiles and porcelain pieces, selected during walks. Their creator Simon Rodia has worked on his creation for 33 years in the courtyard of his house. Many considered him eccentric and prevented the construction. But now Watts Towers are considered one of the symbols of Los Angeles and are recognized a national historic landmark.
