After hundreds of millions of years of evolution, our world was filled with a variety of very different species, each of which turned out to be well suited for only one task – to survive. But the planet is possessed by a man, who needed only few centuries to destroy the harmony in the fauna of the Earth. With the help of selection and fanciful imagination man started to breed incredible and sometimes scary living beings.
Playing with the genes of animals, breeders learned to create not only useful and beneficial species, but beings and monsters – for fun, so to speak, of study. Trying not to think about how chimeras will live in their appearance. And if you find a donkey in the road of life with Caribbean dreadlocks or a pigeon with eyes of deepwater squid, do not rush to bury them. Maybe your vis-à-vis is the fruit of human thought that has been freed from the task of surviving in the wild. And it is possible that the monster that generates paroxysms of self-pity and silent terror has quite normal host, and costs lots and lots of money.
Vampire cat and his 18 foster families
The breed of cats called the Lykoi has been specially bred for people who want to have at home an affectionate cat and a sinister blood-sucking bat at the same time, but unfortunately their living conditions are not good enough for such cat and mouse games.
Demonic coat of Likoi is the result of a rare genetic anomaly which enthusiasts have decided to consolidate. The mutation affects the hair follicles located in the cat’s skin. Need to notice that famous Sphinx cats are not relatives of these meowing monsters.
Likoi with its fragmented body hair resembles intermediate – that did not come from evolution, but appeared from cinematic films about lycanthropy and werewolves with cheap special effects .
The vampire-cat appeared on the market of outlandish breeds not long ago. Mutants were quite healthy, but have not had time to grow old.

Damascus goats or beauty in the Arabian
In 2008 the beauty contest among domestic goats was held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The first place took the goat named Kahrie – Damascus, the representative of the renowned breed of goats, otherwise called “Shami” or “Baladi”.
The owner of Kahrie is Saudi Muhammad Hawass. A man was awarded by the grand prize. His animal was immortalized in numerous photographs and news archives. If we understand right exactly its appearance made him so popular.
Shami is bringing milk breed, that is particularly appreciated in Damascus for noble character and jumping ability. Strange appearance of animal provokes a lot of inconvenience, starting from feeding; getting food is it rather difficult for such animal because of strange structure of the muzzle. That’s why owners are hiring specialized feeders for such pets.
Chinese lop-eared pig
If you have a pig farm, which will bring up to 30 piglets at a time, the surrounding will deem this beastliness. Meanwhile, some Chinese lop-eared breed sows (Meyshan) were able to bring 40. Normally this abnormal beast produces from 12 to 18 pups in each litter. Moreover they become sexually active already in the third month of existence.
Strictly speaking, it is a kind of pot-bellied pig breed, which was bred in China many years ago, by people who lived in the Taihu Lake. Their large family demanded large reserves of meat. After years of selection Chinese breeders developed Meyshan pigs bred, the main feature of which became it’s the high fertility.
Meyshan females become mature in 3 months, boars – a third later. Breeding is possible at the 9th month of life. Moreover, those pigs a sexually hyperactive, like rabbits. That’s why in the 1980s, they were brought to the US.
Unfortunately, like many other “made in China” Meyshan breed soon disappointed many foreign farmers. Disadvantage of it were slow weight gain of pigs and too fatty meat. Even for American cuisine. That is why the history of the breed is complete.
Birdy?
In 1951 at an exhibition in Brussels, the Italian breeders of songbirds introduced a new canaries breed to the world – Gibber Italicus. Work on the creation of an animal with a clearly sickly exterior took place in Italy since 1920. Despite the pathetic appearance, deficit of feathers and crooked shape in the form of the number “7”, the bird was quite viable and soon become popular.
Italian canaries with the appearance of prehistorical harpies or dinosaurs are the result of inbreeding. To the delight of ornithologists it turned out that almost all Gibber Italicus hatched with yellow, as daffodils bouquets, feathers.
Poitou Donkey and his mammoths dreadlocks
French donkey breed, Baudet de Poitou, is a mini copy of the mammoth, just look at his dreadlocks.Moreover, he is considered the most powerful and large donkey- up to 170 centimeters at the withers.
But unfortunately in the second half of the 20th century mule-giant with shaggy dreadlocks lost his job, being unable to compete with tractors and trucks. Breeding heavyweights became unprofitable. There are only few Baudet de Poitou donkeys now and for the sake of hygienic reasons and sanitation current Poitou are regularly sheared.
